Mysterious Thing – Paranoia #9

Posted on October 6, 2011

Every day someone is placing a mysterious thing in my mailbox. The thing looks like an envelope and is blatantly mysterious because the words “mysterious thing” are written on it. What concerns me is that I do not know who is sending the mysterious thing. Envelopes are tricky. Sometimes they contain a love letter from a secret admirer who is requesting a lock of your hair and to know your social security number. Other times the envelope has a bill or summons to show up before some magistrate that wants to lecture you on zoning codes. Luckily, the mysterious thing will eventually stop showing up. We are planning to end the post office and we have carefully replaced it with email, an arguably more elegant nightmare.
