Symbols and Lines – Advice #34F

Posted on January 11, 2011

The most curious advice the crone ever gave her Daughters concerned maps.  They listened attentively as she sucked in a laborious breath. Don’t ever trust a man with a map, the crone said.  A man with a map has a plan, and plans always have an end in mind.  With those cryptic words the crone slipped into death alongside the memory of a particular gentleman cartographer she once felt fondly towards.

The Daughters had hoped for something more practical. Maybe something like don’t wear black underwear on a first date, or don’t name your child Roark. In spite of this, they kept her advice inside their hearts, an unsafe place that alters and eliminates memories at will.
